There is also the option of replacing the light unit only , if you are happy with your shell.I have read all the posts about how great it looks and how it suits the 961 if you want a replacement headlight , but the one thing no body has talked about is how good is the bl**dy thing in the dark. The headlight is there for a purpose not just bling , how would you feel if your super dooper shiny Ohlins suspension handled like a drunken pig every time you peeled into a set of twisties but it looks nice . In my opinion the original headlight was absolute pants the lens looked great but the beam was all over the place , all right for looking for cows in the fields but not much else that's why I junked my original lens and put a Cibie one in and the difference was night and day (sorry about that) . How many 961 owners ride at night and through winter , maybe quite a few and for that you need a proper headlight that actually shows you what's ahead, so can someone tell us how good the beam is on these replacement headlights and are they fit for purpose or just reet bonny.
Quick before/after pic of the front end if ya have time Clive.Just went and got mine chromed - definitely improves the look
Even a bulb upgrade is great as wellThere is also the option of replacing the light unit only , if you are happy with your shell.
The headlight is substantially better than the plastic one I had, buit I did swap a globe as well.I have read all the posts about how great it looks and how it suits the 961 if you want a replacement headlight , but the one thing no body has talked about is how good is the bl**dy thing in the dark. I have a new old stock CPI (Candle Power Inc.) light unit I thought about replacing the plastic light unit on mine. It does not have the pilot light however , which I can live without . It is a real glass light unit , has anyone tried one of these ?Even a bulb upgrade is great as well
Here is the CPI light unit installed in my original shell .
