I am looking at possibly replacing rather than repairing my damaged gear box cradle. Mine is a 71 MKII and I would like to know if they are interchangeable with any or all the other years?

Yes, they are all interchangeable. The pre-'71 will not have the holes drilled for the centerstand and the pre-'72 will not have the holes drilled for the oil filter mount. Of course, the '75 will not have elongated holes for the transmission adjustments and will require a '75 swingarm spindle.

i've '72 Combat cradle I replaced with alloy for Peel, so just in the way for shipping.

If you replace with an 850 cradle the mounting holes for the center stand bolts are larger to accomodate the stepped steel bushes used on those models. 750 type centerstands only have bolts rather than bolts going through the bushes. Since the 850 stands are stronger, if you replace the cradle with 850 type...also use the 850 center stand.

Thank for the help boys, and the offer for parts. I picked up the cradle /swingarm combo featured in the ad. $75 seemed vary reasonable to me. In the process I met a good dude and I got to see his current collection of bikes, featuring 3 Norton's.

Alrighty, have the fun is the folks surrounding Nortons and such. I'd of gone for the complete kit too, Lovely. Commando population is growing daily, cool.

I'll buy your spare swingarm, once you've sorted which one to go with.
