I've never even heard of or seen that suzuki before. That huge oil cooler looks so ridiculous. I can't imagine they were very popular?

The bike almost ruined Suzuki...the biggest problem was that it was too much for the owners to keep running correctly. The carb and oil injection control off the throttle is tedious to get set correctly. The Mikuni carb was designed and built for this bike...it was used on nothing else. The spark plug was designed specifically for this bike and is no longer available, although there are adapters to use a different plug now. Really bad gas mileage, but so much torque it wasn't unheard of to twist the spokes on the rear rim.

If I'm not mistaken the winner of the very first Iron Butt long distance rally won on an RE5.

I had a '75 with the space age styling that I purchased to restore, had one too many projects and sold it...I really wish I wouldn't have done that. :( I have a friend that has one of each model year and in each of the colors offered. Really very nice bikes and so cool to hear them running.

I like the Suzuki - would love to ride that beast just once... I'm sure you'd get some looks in the rearview mirror - - - Is that a radiator on wheels trying to pass me??

Still, a cool bike and certainly more "correct" than that "restored" Commando.

It's back! No change in the 'historic' status just a complaint about Ebay shoppers with 'too much time on their hands'

I see a Bike in the $6k area maybe. I guess folks are buying the interesting auction descriptions and not the bike itself. :|

My dad always said..."There's an ass for every seat"

Whoever pays that much money thinking they just obtained a 'historic' Norton will have a bad day when he trys to sell it to someone who knows what it is. You can almost see the smile fade from his face as one thing after another gets pointed out. Serves him right for not hanging out with us on the Commando froum!

This is even better. Has anyone outside TX seen anything worse? 250775966633

If Austin Powers rode a Norton that would be the one...yeah baby!

By far the worst looking Commando I've ever seen.
