Covid now

So far touch wood I haven't had it and hopefully never have it but see there is a new strain of covid spreading fast around the world that seems to be even worst and the worst thing my wife and oldest daughter are going on a 9 day cruise ship on the Melbourne Cup cruise, I told her when she gets back I am going away for a week in case she bring something home just in case lol.

The last time I got COVID was a few days after returning from a Scotland/Ireland trip. We flew out of Dublin back to the states and for 9 hours, on the plane, I listened to a woman coughing her lungs out. I knew I was doomed.

Actually i feel better a bit. Just did another test and still positive. So been positive 5 days now.

The rapid test is detecting viral coat proteins in the sample. These can continue to be found some days after the virus infection has subsided as proteins can be quite hardy. I'd think you will need to be a week or more out from last symptoms point before testing negative.

This is very concerning
New Zealand currently has a excess death rate that we have not seen since 1918 ? other countries have the same type issues based on govt scientific data that is presented in the below video analysis...as the covid saga continues....

I was sick last xmas to New Years Day. Three days in bed then in and out of bed waiting it out.
Got sicker after the first vax actually. No doubt will get it again this year. Im old but in good shape
so I just go to bed and wait. Never did the flu jab ever in my life previous to this and never will again.
Getting sick was easier believe me.

Hard to say Jerry as it varies from person to person.

It put me in bed for two days and floored me for a week.

High doses of vit D and C and Beechams cold and flu capsules kept me alive !

Even though I tested positive for covid, my Missus still says it was man fluā€¦
If it had been man flu, I think your missus would be deceased, as we all know it is deadly to females šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I just got it and was completely asymptomatic. I think my blood is so toxic by now that any virus just surrenders.

It's very very different for different people. I still havnt had it but then I don't get out much.šŸ¤“ A few flights but still generally wear a mask.

I had one friend who said it was just like the mildest cough.

On the other hand one older friend who had been an organ transplant recipient died and an acquaintance with very early MS was really sick for weeks. Another in 40s who got it in the first wave in the USA and had to go on a waiting list for a ventilator seems to have long term lung damage.

But they are the very unusual ones and nearly everyone seems to get over it fine now they know how to treat it.

All the best and I trust you will be one of the normal people and have no long term issues.

I had it at the end of 2019. Well before the first recorded cases in the Uk. No one knew anything about it except the dammed chinks. Worse than a proper dose of flu , floored me for a week with coughing up lung tissue in the end. Luckily i was on blood thinners so no clotting /organ issues or brain fog . Then the wife went down , finished up in hospital on oxygen , nearly croaked. Later heard that where we were was the center of infection . We probably took it to London. Wife said she has never been that ill before. Another day or so at home and she would have died. I posted on this site how bad it could be and to get your immune systems up and on line. No one took it seriously. How many died? will we ever know?,

Glad you made it through.
My Son had it in December 2019 as well. He had flown to MSP & back to MHT on business.
30 years old, strong & healthy, "the sickest I'd EVER BEEN!"

Tina ended up in hospital for a week ...both lungs were dark....
I guzzled down some Harkers deep lung support along with a few essential vitamins and came right after about a week...good thing was... I could go up to see my Mrs in hospital

Hello mate, yeah, but it took a while. I had 3 weeks of it 2 of the weeks were very crap. I think I had it moderately for sure. Then a few weeks after better I got sick again with a nasty head cold for another 3 weeks. It was crappy for a few months, but all good now. Hope you are keeping well. Cheers

Disease X is on its way
So we have something to look forward too

Glad to hear that, Jerry. I've so far managed to avoid it, but other members of my family have had everything from a very mild case to something more like your experience. Not a fun prospect.

My theory is that it is exacerbated by insufficient wind-in-the-face time. :)
