I have no interest in cricket. However, I love the British - they respond so well, when you give them a rev. Without worthy adversaries, there would be no champions.

Ben Stokes England's Cricket Captain that the Aussies have been slagging off is Kiwi Born ....just saying...

I also have ZERO interest in cricket ........ funnily enough I was sat with my dogs in the local pub a few days back just day dreaming as you do ( tv on in the background, sound turned down, only two other people there ) and this bloke comes in and sits opposite me.

He calls out and says " oh your not watching the cricket then ? " to which I reply " no mate cant abide the game " ............... carried on daydreaming.

Next thing is this bloke starts getting bolshy and tells me all about the game how amazing it is and also how it relates to the British Army and tactics etc

I reply and say " look mate I'm really not interested, just want a quiet drink " .... he keeps on and continues to tell me about the military comparisons so I reply with " look mate we are in bloody civvy street so if you don't mind give it a rest "

Matey gets stroppy and comes over to me and in the middle of a fist swing I tip the table at him, grab my jug glass for protection just in case and went behind the bar to phone the police ( I know the landlord ).

I really was polite honest !!

Gota say I really cannot abide cricket ! .............. and football all the more, too many folks up their own arse about how wonderful the collective " we " are :(

It's cricket and every team/country does it slagging the opponents when out on the field and as the undeclared rule is what goes on the field, stays on the field, it happens in all completive sports, yes some do push it too far but trying to put the opponent off their game will always happen no matter who is batting or bowling, it's no longer a gentleman sport, it's all about winning, it's war between to completive teams.
As for the last test and the drama with a pom batsman leaving his crease before it was called dead ball/over, it wasn't the Aussies that gave him out, it was the umpires call, not the Aussies, the Aussies were playing by the rules, but of course the Poms lost the match and the abuse the Aussies got from the crowds and members.
Really how many times did the poms try to get the Aussie batsmen out for leaving their crease in the first innings but without success (they were too quick to get back in the crease), but the good thing with the Poms carrying on about the storm in a tea cup drama will just fire up the Aussies even more for the next 3 test matches.
Call the Aussies cheats for playing the rules, come on be real and get over it.
It's not cricket no more, its a battle between two great countries, booing the Aussies off when they won the match, now that's not cricket, that's bad sportsmanship from losing the game.
Well the good thing it has liven up the next 3 test matches to be played, 5 days of cricket can get a bit boring.

I cannot understand why people go professional with sport. Money-motivation kills fun. I watched a video about John Surtees. He said he got just as many thrills out of negotiating money deals, after retiring from motor sport.
I will work making anybody's racing motorcycle, but I do not accept money for doing that.
I think Casey Stoner might have received a hard lesson. Money can make things awkward, when they should not be.
Football, Cricket and other religions annoy me.
I don't usually go into public bars in pubs - my father was an ex-WW2 soldier and we used to have 6 o'clock closing when I was a kid.
I was in a pub years ago and a drunk asked me which team I barracked for. When I told him I didn't know anything about foot ball, he said ' so, you are not a sporting person - what do you do ?' - I said 'I road-race motorcycles '- he just mumbled and walked away.
When Tom Phillis was killed while racing a Honda on the IOM, that was probably the only time he was ever mentioned in an Australian newspaper. None of our international racers get media coverage in Australia.
It has to do with Murdoch - he co-partners football leagues, and owns nearly all of our newspapers.

When I was at high school, Bill Woodfull was our Principal. He was Captain for Australia during the Bodyline Series. When the kids were playing cricket, he would walk past and never look at them.

Yes and in my book Smith and Warner should have been sacked from cricket all together, the bowler was only doing what he was told to do but he should of said no same as the under arm with Ian Chapple, could have gone against his brother order, 6 runs off the last ball is a big ask, but it was in the rule book, but most Aussies were pissed off in how that went.
Then what happens with rigged matches, big bets on no balls in different overs, it happens everywhere no matter what country once gambling comes into play and these day sports bet is big business.
There are cheats in all sports and how many have got away with it, these days it's a lot harder with all the cameras around and sand paper gate was shameful to all Aussies and Smith and Warner got off too lightly.

I just think... those in glasshouses shouldn't throw stones...we all strive to have a competitive edge...typical human nature 👍

Its the way sports has gone when big money is involved, winning at all cost, I hate dishonest/liar, people who cheats or big gamblers and sore losers as well dummy spitters when things don't go their way, fair play and sportsmanship is very important in the way I been brought up, our sportsmen have lost that and to be honest I turned away from our cricket players from that game and Smith and Warner should have been out forever, I am only getting back into it and I still can't stand Warner.
But I do love it when Queensland gives NSW a kicking in the State of Origin footy and watching the Blue's spit dummies when they lose, just got to make it 3 out of 3 next week to really rub it in lol.

^^^ Just as crappy as " footballs coming home ".................................. still waiting ater 48 yrs .......... but still think they are the best in the world ⤵️

I am not much good at watching sport. I even find MotoGP boring. My son watches F1 - he said his computer game 'is just like the real thing'. He did not get married until after he had a heart attack and was nearly 50 - got in touch with his own mortality ?
Some people never really live their lives.
When you are over 80 years of age, you probably usually gain some perspective if you don't get dementia.

Next you poms will be crying "the ball only hit the bails off a little bit - where is the spirit of the game?"
Have you looked at how many Aussies were stumped out of their crease by poms over the years - hypocritical bullshit (your Prime Minister included)!
