I am trying to achieve the correct spacing on the A65 crank. The shim kit has .010 .005 .003 shims. I have the cases mounted in a stand with a dial indicator. Even so, it is difficult to measure accurately and have it repeatable. So..I am using feel and common sense too.
With a .010 shim in place I have .005 clearance and the crank rolls freely. I can detect a tiny amount of end play by eye.
With .013 installed I can feel a very small amount of drag while turning the crank by hand. The crank will stop spinning at different positions which tells me there is minute binding.
There are no other shims.
The correct end play is .003 max.
My question is ...will the yamabond 1104 give me approx .001 extra and the .o13 shim pack be good? Will I gain a slight bit more clearance after a bit of running?
Remember, the dial indicator is not giving me the same readings twice so it is not very useable.
