961 fuel Tank Bolts

I recall they addrssed it with a different top yoke?
Yep, different top yoke that didn’t foul the tank when removing it - the tank that is. Wonder if they ever backtracked and retrofitted the bikes already sold?

Don’t think they ever addressed the lack of bobbin mounting holes though. That never really made sense - we established that there was room I think.

Picked these up today from a local fastener shop. Gonna try this if I lose my current setup. Should allow fastening without clamping the mat. Not sure movement of the mat is too important though - certainly the way mine is set-up.

If this is a fail I’ll try the same but with the purple Loctite.

Just realised that I’ll have the TAB tank arriving soon so may be wasting my time really!

I know there's a lot fixed on the TVS 961 particularly in the engine but I am feeling there are a number of little things on my Donington 961 which was better..... Especially the bits I have now fixed......

Ps can we call Donington Dominators 'Donny Dommies'?

Man. Barely more than finger tight is too much. I'm sure a mechanic spun mine but whatever. It was held on like crap as a few of us know.
Now that I have the Tabll, I'll have it repaired.

Hi Stu , Whatever Norton are using now should work for our bikes , correct ?
Hi Tony,
I received the new splash matt from Norton(mine in the photo is cut off at the sides), the material is totally different, it’s more like rubber silicon. It is exactly like what we have but they don’t use the upper part. Also they don’t supply it with the Velcro scotch, it needs to buy separately and that would be the 3M heavy duty Velcro.
I didn’t install it yet. See photo below.

I replaced the tank bolts with these M6 x 1.00 x 12mm and it’s perfect.

I hate these splash mats so much. The cables above just flop it down and the whole thing rests on the top of the rocker cover. I removed mine and replaced the tank bolts with studs/nuts which help locate it through the battery/coil/relay carrier and have a tufnol plate located by these studs/nuts underneath keeping the cables in place. I plan to form an aluminium plate with a piece of silicon sheet at the front when I get the chance.

Yes I hate this splash mats so much too!
You can order a 2mm Carbon Fiber sheet on AliExpress, much better than aluminum and it’s cheap.

You can order from them cut to size.
I ordered a few and their carbon is TOP TOP TOP.
