Anyone who that is sick of fiddling around with Amals this is the solution and want more power and plug and play installation the Keihin 33 mm CRS smooth bore carbs that are set up for Nortons by Jim Schmidt Norton Guru in Northern California has your back . After spending months goofing around with my Amals I stumbled across Jim and could not be happier unless I were to win the lottery ! I installed them today with his air cleaner and fuel line , and throttle . I turned on the gas , put the choke on and walla , the Cobat fired up First Kick . Not only that the bike idled perfectly with that Norton thump. I took it for a ride as well and it has never ran like a scalded dog like it does now. The set up requires no synch as the carbs are bolted together and synched. The only adjustments the throttle cable . They are not inexpensive . Around $1350.00 all in for everyhing . Does anyone know if it is possible to use the ham can style air filter with the Keihen carb kit or if the stock ham can filter can be modified to be used?
Or possibly a slim style ham can be used?

There was a guy on one of the Norton Facebook groups that 3D printed a plate for a Mikuni, might want to reach out to see if he is up for the task.
 
Actually, fitting Amal mk11 Smoothbores to big, tuned up, Japanese bikes used to be the thing to do.

It's a bit easier to tune slide carbs than CVs
But this was an early K series honda
I was just surprised to see 4 mk 1 amals
The bike looked like a race track refugee
The amount of weld on the bottom of the alternator case was also notable

The Keihins on my CB750K6 (1976) are slide carbs and I needed carb cleaner and compressed air to get the pilot jet clear, just like my Commando's mk2 Amal. Balancing my single Amal is easier! :)

I used to run mikuni smooth bores on my SOHC '78 CB750F......and a kerker header. never a problem......well I used to lose in a street race to a certain V65 saber :( Cj
