Hi.
I have three different type of rear hubs.
First is on an early 1967 P11 and is skimmed gently conical both sides with small central flat band;
Second is on 1968 P11A and is skimmed with a large flange both sides and with a large flat band in the centre;
Third is on a1968 P11 A Ranger and is all flanged (or finned) like 1964 G80 CS models.
In this year, i have seen severals P11 bikes and a lot of hubs, but i have never seen another "first" type but more the "second" and "third" types.

It was quite common that privateers skimmed the hubs of G80CS bikes used in motocross.
I have a sample myself. The skimming thus performed would have deviated from the turning made by the factory.
Maybe someone fitted a modified rear wheel off a G80CS to your bike? 50 years is a long time and anything could have happened in the meantime.
I think we can assume that all hubs made by the AMC factory were machined the same way. There is no reason why the rear hub should have two different ways of machining.
Remember, AMC employed semi-automatic maching in the 60's.

Knut

Here are the photos Piero sent to me.
I have never seen an AMC hub like this. It looks wide, so it may be an early hub that some one turned off the ribs and polished.
