will this sidestand work on a 1959 Wideline?

No idea if it will fit but I always think that just relying on it clamping round the frame tube to hold the weight of the bike is ambitious at best. If it's tight enough to hold the weight of the bike then I think there's a good chance it will be crushing the frame tube.

yes , that's what I think, but there is a lug on the back side to rest up against something?

It looks like the one on my Wideline ES2, it rests against the crankcase rather than relying only on the frame tube for stability.

I have one of them on my Wideline frame and works great, but don't sit on the bike when the stand is down and don't use the stand when kicking the bike over.

The stand appears to be the same as my 650SS and as I believe all featherbed stands were similar so should fit, the actually locate against the engine plate so can't rotate.

On the slimline and P11 frames, the angle cut on the inner portion of the clamp rests on the engine plate and can't rotate. On wideline frames, I think it rests against the crank case, and again will not rotate.

This is the same side stand on my Ranger

Purchased a sidestand many moons ago similar to this, the length of the stand were too short and I had to file a radius on the top of the stand to enable it to fit between frame and crankcase. HTH
