As Kev and Cliffa have pointed out, the sensor on the early bikes with the Omex ECU is a KTY type. With an NTC sensor (Bosch 0-280-130-026 / Honeywell ES120-0030) the resistance decreases as the temperature increases whereas with a KTY sensor (Honeywell ES120-0024) the resistance increases with temperature. You will confuse the ECU if you swap an NTC sensor with a KTY one and vice-versa, as you have found out.Hi All.....
I have one of the very early 961s 2010 with the Honeywell head sensor (ES120-0024), and just asking if the ECU can be reprogrammed to read the Bosch head sensor ES120-0030,
I found a spare sensor but just a little worried if they break what to do as tried the Bosch sensors in it an runs like crap till hot. cheers Rob
If it was me I wouldn't worry about it, given that you have a spare sensor. It would be worth checking that the spare one works so that you know it's a good spare. In the worst-case-scenario if both of your sensors fail you have the option of a Delta 400 ECU, or maybe a Typhoon from someone who has switched to the Delta. Those ECUs are setup for an NTC sensor so availability of the sensor wouldn't be a problem. So there is a solution should the worst happen, albeit at a cost.
