Using a stock WLA with a 3 wire stator and a Podtronics regular. Will it work?

As the title asks Is there any downside with this application? I am wondering if the stator puts out enough voltage to heat resistance wire that opens the internal switch.

any issues with overloading one leg of the stator?

It works fine.

Some reg/recs don’t support the warning light assimilator (like the Boyer Bransden Power Box as an example) but no Podtronics instructions have ever said they don’t support the 3AW.

The single phase and three phase units both work fine with it.

The pitfall with the can assimilator is that it only checks one leg of the alternator. I replaced mine with a solid state unit, but the same issue exists. The MKIII version has two inputs (I believe) so it might better, but still not a perfect solution.

IMHO the assimilator is nearly worthless. It only tells you that the stator is making some voltage. That doesn't tell you anything concrete about your charging system. If I were concerned about that, I would install any of the available voltmeters or a true charge monitor.

I'm not, so I always install the madass140 oil pressure switch and connect that to the red warning indicator. I very much like to see the red light on while the bike's ignition is on and the bike is not running, and even better that it goes out within a second of starting because I have oil flowing and it is under pressure.
