The finsihed paint job

Well after painting and polishing this is how she came up. This shot was taken at our local bike show, I was the first one there, but by midday there were some 200 bikes assembled, about 4 Commando's. And there was even a JPN coloured 850 Mk11A in the visitors lot.
I have only clocked up 50 miles on the new engine rebuild, I promised some reports on the JS Engineering piston & rod kit. So with only 50 miles I have run her up to 4K in short bursts to ensure the bores and rings snuggle in together. The engine runs really strong, with a reliable idle and good clean carburettion. The annoying shaking at above idle 1500rpm to 2000rpm is now hardly noticeable, that was what I really hated on this machine before the mod. The bike was pretty smooth before with the iso's doing there business, but now that is even better. I would estimate that vides at all ranges are at least a third less. I still get a nice jiggle of the front wheel at 1000rpm idle, but above that engine speed she no longer turns to jelly. The kick start effort has gone up, the Total Seal ring are sealing much better, the kick is firm, but a decent kick is assured of firing, right from cold. It seems to draw through fuel and light the fire, better than before. Engine oil is still clean as you would hope, I am running mono 30 weight for break in, so will change out at 500 miles or whatever coincides before I head of for the 2500 mile MotoGP run, in a couple of weeks.
Will give more details upon return.
Cheers Richard :D

Good looking bike, I want to do one in that paint scheme one of these days...

Very nice Stockie1. I too liked the white/blue scheme. With the help of Swooshdave's (thanks SD) very detailed pics and measurements of an "original" tank, I got my painter to try and match them. I reckon he did a reasonable job. I am also interested to find out how your new parts from Jim Schmidt is going. I have just installed his dual flatside carbies, and in the process of fine tuning them. Anyway, here are a couple of pics of mine. Now I have 3 sets of tanks and covers. Much cheaper than having to buy 3 Nortons??!

That's a real nice looking Norton, we need more of them on the road, actually they should take over.

Hip Hip Horray for the red/white and blue.
Both machines are a gem.
I really like the tricolor on white look myself.
I wish I had several norty tins to swap out as the mood dictates.
Again both came out lovely.

2 very nice Nortons !!

Richard, I'll look out for you at Phillip Island. (black Mk3 Interstate, traveling with my missus on Monster S2R1000, also black)
We leave Brisvegas on Saturday 9th and staying at PI. with friends.

Good luck on your run it trip.

Never liked this color when I was younger back in 74, but it grows on you. But it has to move into the top four for now -BLACK (of course), yellow (just something about it), Red (roommate in 74 had a Red 750 was gorgeous, but the two tone white and blue is unique. Wish I had 4 tanks and side covers. I'd change them every other day. Also, chromed tank and side covers look nice on the CNW bikes.

I have seen Richard's bike in the flesh and it is every bit as nice as in the pics. He painted both my Triumph and Norton and did a great job.
