Quick Change Rear Brake and Sprocket

Hi
Has anyone tried to mount a BSA or other type quick change rear brake with bolt on sprocket?
My goal being that I could easily change the final gearing without the expense or hassle of tearing apart the gearbox

thanks

Mark

To what purpose ?
You planning on climbing the Himalayas, or racing at the IoM and Cadwell on subsequent weekends ??

Horses for courses...

Trying to get the bike together for AHRMA (vintage race) weekends and all I am doing is racing thru my savings

If you want measurements or pictures I have a BSA QD rear wheel hanging on the wall.

That seems to be common theme here, with racers. !
You may want to edit your thread title to include AHRMA then, so the race guys here drop in for a chat.

Converting to a Mk3 rear disk would be a more common mod, to also give a changeable rear sprocket.
The BSA hub would need a different brake anchor, and I can't recall if the axle size will fit into a Commando swingarm slot ?
Thats about exhausted my useful input on this...

Exactly, once we street riders get a 21T on the gearbox, pretty much set for life. 19T is for hooligans such as when I was 20 on my first combat.

dont forget if you use the bsa hub you wont have a shock absorber in the transmission all they have is the QD drive spline that is usualy worn and a rubber buffer ,this maybe ok for racing but not so good on a road bike the very first commandos were like this and i once used this setup on my commando bloody horrible on a road bike! mick hemmings has a triumph t140 disc brake back wheel in his racing commando easy to change sprocket size ,are you allowed a disc back brake in this class? he has a belt primary so this may help the transmission? regards baz

I've raced Commandos with a variety of bolt-on sprocket hubs that also included a rear disk, as well as modifying a Commando rear drum to take bolt-on sprockets. It's definitely a useful feature for AHRMA racing. I posted some pictures of the modified Commando drum brake here.

If you try the search feature here, I think you will find other threads on this subject.

Here's my version on the race bike
