I assume that the talk about Nortons refers to the 1970's fastback or to 961's or the V4? I changed my glass fibre tank on my Commando Fastback for an Indian made steel tank after the ethanol made the resin in the fibreglass tacky. The ethanol in the aluminium Commander rotary tank created a white oxide but I don't think it has been deep or flaky. I don't think the F1 or F1 Sport used plastic????
I wonder what the difference in the modern plastic tanks is.... HDPE ??? My range of plastic petrol containers made by the likes of Bell quite happily take pure ethanol.
I am contemplating buying a Honda NC750 and wonder what their tanks use and does the swelling and contracting eventually cause hardening and cracking- I notice Taps that were made for Triumph in the 1990's - Mikuni? for the triples had filter guazes and these just crumbled to dust.
