Images of the recent Distinguished Gentleman's Ride reminded me of a picture I saw long time ago, in the early eighties.
It was in a bookshop in Auckland, NZ, in a travel book about Australia.
One of the pictures in it about Sydney was a full size picture of a guy on a 750 Commando, I think it was a Fastback, dressed in suit and tie, shiny shoes as well, waiting at the traffic lights.
Curious sight for me at the time.
At the time, I knew no better that riding (british) bikes was done in leathers, belstaff like stuff or jeans.
Would love to trace that picture down again.

Hah, it could of been me in the mid 70's! I hired on with field service at IBM and had to use my '71 Commando to get to training several days. They were big on wearing suits and ties then, so there I was.....
Plaid suits were big then, now only worn at 70's parties, platform shoes, wide ties, leisure suits or Nehru jackets, ouch.
Didn't care much about it then as a 20 something

Yeah, the picture looked like the guy could be on his way to work at the office, who knows.
