On the 1968 Commandos delivered to US dealers, did the sidecover, oiltank have decals on them or were they just painted?
What type of handle bars did they have from the factory?

I believe the oil tank side was just painted. Not sure about the other side. The bars could have been 'Home' or 'Export'. The Home being short and the export being the tiller type. Here's a parts book and brochure that may help. I think the Riders Handbook is available on line somewhere. I have one and the oil tank looks to be just painted.

If it was delivered to the US it undoubtedly had the longer 'Export' bars.

Thanks Dave,
I bought this 68 from the son of the second owner, his dad bought if from a friend of his who was the original owner. The bars rise 7" from the clamp to the bend, very comfortable to ride. I suspect they are aftermarket.
I am leaning toward no decals on the side. I have the stock fiberglass tank, but it is going on the shelf. I will be using an aluminum tank, other than that it's pretty original.
Never tried to get a photo on this forum.

My original export bars have about a 5" rise. The replacement I got from Walridge is a bit less.
