In process of moving to Dallas.
I know about Big D but are there any other Norton shops in the area? Parts and mechanical support?
Having my bike shipped down in a month or so.
Thanks MikeM

North Texas is ancient hot spot of Brit Iron clans and home of Big D cycles plus near by Norton comnoz mecca annual Lake of the Pines gathering. Too bad Dallas city so huge congested and Texas roads so wide and straight and mostly always humid greasy dusty summer when not rained out flooded. damhik.

Hook up with these guys but you will be like a bee in bunch of flowers on which shop or club or fiends to visit most.

Too bad ... Texas roads so wide and straight and mostly always humid greasy dusty summer when not rained out flooded.
Alas, poor hobot, you've never ridden the thousands of miles (literally) of Texas hill country roads with great (if not a tad warm) riding weather and very low traffic for over 50% of the year...

Grandpaul is N Texas builder and worth hooking up with for help, rally's and Texas Mile land speed event.
I spent 25yr as Texan getting speeding tickets everywhere worth while, many times, to point I officially gave back DL so they couldn't add points to spike insurance. Takes about 2 hour to feel like ya really left a big city sprawl that eventually squeezed me to leave for Ozarks.

Mike , hope your move to the big city of Dallas in Texas is a success for you and your family ... bet you will meet plenty of Norton folks once you get out on 2 wheels .... you mentioned shipping a bike , don’t you have more than one , maybe you riding one down from big bad Chicago ? .... being able to ride year round would be amazing !

Texas year round riding seasons is not pleasant or even toleratable in 9 mo long southern summers which get well above body temp / humidity so the faster ya go its like turning up the hair dyer blast more. Its gets dam cold in N Texas and w/o much elevation gets every storm front nastiness. None the less Dallas is like its own world capitol so great place to create new life style and adventure options. There a distinction of just visiting Dallas on meetings-art shows-private parties and vacations vs living-working there w/o slack enough to experience the Dallas TV series level of people/places that's the real reason rest of Dallas exists. Btw, real Texans split "yes" into "yah-ass". Manly wear includes fancy pointed boots and big hats. Dallas may have worst rush hour congestion than Los Angeles but its its Texas so hardly ever a traffic jam more like precision road racing with southern courtesy be it exotic sports cars to semi trucks. Scary tight flows to me even after Houston home practice. Would not ride cycle in main city as free way seams and wear tear areas at diagonals to travel can snatch tire out from under before ya know what happened before run right over - a few times...

I'm world traveled for decades to know from Denmark to China to Belize if someone knew ya was from Texas they immediately assumed that meant Dallas and wanted to know how things were back at the ranch!

LOL Precision road racing is a great description. I am from Chicago and its about the same only faster.
I have the boots, dont know about the hat. Am down here now south of the city and wishing my bike was here.
Its coming but not quite yet.

I live SW of DFW and it so much nicer than the greater DFW area. The roads are great with little congestion unless you take the Sunday morning going to church crowd, they will kill you if they are late for church. For me 3 left turns puts me out on a FM road at 65 and a mile further and it hits 70. Great back roads all around. You must got to Lake of the Pines in Jefferson TX the end of September.

yep sir outside the megatropolis ya can really fly stretching Commando legs in the vast surrounds of rolling pastures and woods one way or open prairie the other. There's National International level racing in Dallas and Austin area tracks and National level bike build off shows in a days ride distance in Texas. Hope Texas is a good to you as was for me. There's a small track south side of west Dallas I took track school on, so might check in for safe place to learn Commando quirks and pecking order with others. Might even be let go with -aw officers I was just learning about my Commando so surprised as you what it'll do... now I know won't let it happen again. Texas abutts with Arkansas and even Mexico ya know. If really want out of town check out San Antonio on way to Big Bend. Its almost the deep south for gosh sakes in case ya ain't.
