Hello All, well I’ve finally managed to fulfil my dream and recently acquired a 1976 850 MK III Commando in JPS colours. It’s only taken me 47 years since being smitten as a fifteen year old imprisoned in a Dickensian boarding school back in the 70’s!
My question is; does anyone know of a good Norton specialist in the county of Kent (UK) who could give the machine a once over and offer some advice on what may need sorting? I live in the Tonbridge area but happy to go the distance to find the right guy. Meanwhile, I’m absorbing the official manual and a number of supporting publications but would feel more confident receiving some wisdom from someone who can point me in the right direction. Much appreciated. https://norton-850-commando-mk-iii.webflow.io/

Nice bike...was the previous owner perhaps a forum member? Any history or back story on the bike and how you came to find it would also be interesting...enjoy

The bike came from a large private collection in the south east of England and was repatriated from the USA. I found it via a contact in the NOC who recommended and appraised the bike before I purchased. I’ve no idea if the previous owner was on this forum but it came from a good home. I'm hoping the NOC may throw some light on its original background.

To honest, whilst not expecting a hand written copper plate illuminated scroll, what I got from AN frankly was a waste of money..
Others may disagree of course :)

As a fellow Mk3 owner I applaud your choice and taste..... Small detail (apologies if I appear to be 'rivet counting') but someone's nicked your seat lock?

Yeah! and fitted what looks like an anti drain check valve.
