I bought a Dunlop 404 100/90-19 for the front of my Norton Atlas but it looks too wide. I believe the original was a K70 3.25 or 3.50 -19 but I would rather run a more modern tire design. What fits?

I run an Avon Roadrider Universal 100/90-19 on my Atlas, and I find that it's a perfect fit and an excellent tire.
Hope that helps.

Unfortunately, it may depend on what year and month your bike was manufactured as to what front tire will fit on it.

Before a certain serial number before I think in 1964 the bikes had front forks that were 3/8" narrower with different front fender brackets etc.. So the widest tire that might fit on an early bike, like one old 650 I had, was a 3.25-19, or in modern size a 90/90-19. And then I remember I even had to make sure the bolt heads for the fender stays had their heads in not out. Not the most attractive thing, but then as now I was a lot more interested in functionality and safety than having a show-bike.....

I might have misunderstood your original post. I had thought you were saying that you just thought the 100/90 - 19 tire "looked" too wide. Now that I reread it, it sounds like you're more concerned with the actual fitment of the tire in the stock mudguard.
Beng's info is certainly correct, and I should add that my tire choice is based on 7 3/8" yokes, with an alloy mudguard rather than the original. SO my application may not be the best comparison.
So depending on the year of your Atlas and the width of the yokes, your tire may or may not fit, with varying amount of clearance.
