I just did three this morning.

I probably mount and balance a dozen or so each year, between my bikes and friends bikes.

This is one of those jobs I could never seem to master! I agree with Baz in that I would never allow a tyre shop to do it, I take my wheels to a local bike shop.

After being let down a couple of times in the past by other shops, I bought my own balance jig and always check them before fitting.

No I don't trust any shops,
It'd be great to have a local motorcycle shop that I did trust!!
I once took a front wheel from a Suzuki tl1000 to a tyre fitters to have a new tyre fitted for a mate of mine
It came back with flat spot on one side of the rim !!!
I wouldn't mind but the bloke that fitted it was one of his mates

74 years on the 3d rock from the sun and I did the rear tire on my P11 today. Not an Avon tire worshiper though. I put a cheap Bridgestone BT46 on to replace a Conti-Go.

I have not required major surgery and body parts replacement yet, so not much of a physical challenge.... yet.

I've been changing tires on my bikes a long time as well, and still don't like doing it that much. However, I trust myself to do good work and I'm the best tire changer in my house. :)

I put my own tyres onto the Commando. Easy as.

BUT and it's a big BUT.

I WILL NEVER AGAIN ATTEMPT TO PUT A 90/ 90 -21 MÌITAS 07 onto my DR650 front wheel.

That tyre was tough tough tough.

The next one was fitted with a friends help on a top quality tyre machine at a local dealer. And even then it took a lot of care. The rear went on easy as.

Tyres are not created equal.

Did hundreds in the 60s but struggling a few years ago I bought a Baja no pinch tool. Makes fitting really easy.
Two questions:
Does the standard tool come with something that fils in the Norton hub?
Is there some similar "easy" tool for tyre removal?
Cheers

Comes with a 20mm unless you buy the kit. You could fit a sleeve or turn the 20mm down to suit. I made several to fit different bearing sizes.
There are copies available now cheaper than the original.
