Going to a only motorcycle swap meet this Saturday at Laidley QLD taking my project bike out and try to sell it, it's a complete bike in piece ready for restoring it's a 1960 Manxman but was used as an ex race bike with lots of unoriginal parts, new alloy tank, alloy wheels and alloy oil tank, new Ikon shocks that I brought and new engine bearings as well valves, I brought this bike 12 years ago like this and started to rebuild but life got in the way and has sat in the shed since, hoping to get a good price for it even in pieces as it more a cafe build than original blue and a lot of the original parts are missing.
I am starting a new project for my shed, I still have my 850 Commando/Featherbed as well my Triumph Thruxton, going to be open to genuine offers for the Manxman, as well have other bike stuff for sale, gates open Friday afternoon at 4PM for an all day Saturday meet.
Good classic British bikes are hard to find these days at swap meets even in boxes.

I was hoping you were going to build that Manxman Ash
Why the change of heart
What project are you up to now?

I just starting a new project in my life, and a thing I have always wanted to do since childhood, a few years ago I brought a large slot car set, a 100 piece track that took over 1/4 of my shed as we did the slot car racing thing when younger but it wasn't my real love so I just sold the complete layout except for the purpose tables, I am now building a large model railway in OO/HO scale, it's not a cheap hobby so hence the sale of the Manxman/caferacer project and the sale of the SC track has started my new journey.
Well we got to the swap meet Friday night for an early start Saturday and at 5:30 am I sold the 650 Dommie was made a good offer that I took, I made a good profit from what I paid for it 12 years ago and to be honest it was just sitting in the shed collecting dust and just lost interested in building it.
I still have my original 2 model trains from my child hood and so far have already spent the money from the SC sale +another $1k on top of it $2600 so far and I haven't laid one bit of track yet as I am waiting for a few things to arrive to help me laying the flexy track I have already bought as well 2 new Hornby engines and rolling stock, I am building a DCC system and now with more spare money the layout is going to double in size even before I get started, I came home from the swap meet with $4k in my pocket.
In 3 weeks time I be an old age pensioner, this new project will be a long term build and already I have made 2 Tressel bridges while waiting for other bits to arrive, I get a idea in my head and I go for it, I like making things from scratch, I am not giving up on the bikes as I still have my 850 Commando/Featherbed and my Triumph Thruxton, but my CRF450X Honda dirt bike will also be sold down the road to add to my train layout, this is a long time itch I had to scratch, my wife knows I won't be diddling into our saving so selling some of my toys to buy other toys she understands that.
A few of my mates can't believe it and I ran in a few mates at the swap meet and told them what I was getting myself into they didn't say I was mad but were very understanding in what I am planning to do and to be honest I am looking forward to playing with my trains and it will keep me busy for the rest of my life, bikes and trains.
I met a Norton guy at the swap meet and we were chatting when he said your not ashman buy any chance from here, so a small world running into another member from here.
Well now you all know what my new project is all about, do you think I am mad, but I looking forward to see what I can do and how it works out, I have a plan in my head but it just growing and I don't know how far it will take me, but I am looking forward to it.

You always need something else Ash. I'm back into my fishing, again something I can do when I cant do anything else. Not that my obsession with bikes is ever going to go away, just helps with the motivation.

I also have a love of fishing/crabbing has been a life time of fishing adventures, boat ownership from small tinnies to a 27' timber bay cruiser, love the water, but no longer own a boat but still get to going camping at one of my favorite beach camp sites.
Today spent most of the day getting the layout tables sections level with each section one section was sitting 27mm higher than the rest so had to fix that and finish off the trestle bridges and paint them, tomorrow I start on laying some track, I have a plan worked out but still open to change as I go, the decoders arrived today from the UK to install into the new engines to run DCC, I now have everything I need to get going also spent just over $600 from the money I made from the bike and bought more flexi track, some rolling stock, wiring.
I had to move things from under the tables so now have space to work under the layout for wiring and what ever else I need to do, had to do that first thing to make the tables line with each section, I busted a rib last week so after 4 pm I had enough, bit sore but was a full on day in the shed, doctors in the morning then back into the lay out.
Both the Norton and Triumph are running so good I haven't spent much time in the shed working on them, when they are going good I leave them alone, but now I am so keen starting this new part of my retirement fun and will keep the mind and body very active, when I sell the dirt bike I have more room to expand the layout even bigger, but that's down the road still lol.
