Hi everyone. I have a question thats doing my head in. On the k2 magneto on my 67 Atlas, should the white wire thats connected to the external kill switch, have any earthing properties prior to pushing the button on the handlebars. I connected a test light to that earth wire at the magnetos end and i get a dull glow. When i push the button it glows brightly, meaning its getting a better earth. Shouldnt there be no earth at all at that white wire on the magneto until i push the button? I screwed the end cap off and the test light glows dimly where that carbon pickup on the cap would sit. I'm concerned that the slight earth reading could affect start up
Would love to know.
Cheers and happy easter . Regards mark

There should be no continuity at all. Any at all will cause hard starting. Check for insulating washers.

I’d say you’re wrong about that. The centre screw, that the kill switch brush touches, has continuity to earth through the low tension windings in the armature, even when the points are open.
