I've seen one you tube video of a guy replacing his rear iso's with engine and trans still in place. When I got my bike I removed the engine but not the cradle IIRC, which allowed me to tip the cradle forward enough to get at them easily. The video I saw was old and the guy was using a screwdriver to work the rubbers into place so I'm a bit skeptical to try it with engine in place without asking for others experiences.

Yes, the rear Iso. can be replaced without removing the engine from the cradle.
 
Thanks LAB. Any tips or tricks? The video I saw was poor quality and didn't show anything of the procedure to get to the point of actually changing them.

Not much that I can recall. The frame down tubes needed protecting as the cradle has to be moved forward as far as possible which puts the cylinder head up against the frame tubes (exhaust pipes removed). The rear wheel remained in place but the shocks had to be unbolted at the lower ends to allow the cradle assembly to move far enough forward.
 
By coincidence I am doing a minor restoration on a 72 Commando, (yes the one I have been fighting the Alton starter on)
Took the rear iso out today.
Heres a few pics of my ‘method’.
Disconnect head steady, Remove rear iso bolt and raise frame while engine rests on centre stand

So you left the front mount in place and just lifted up on the frame? Looks pretty simple.

Ok, I have just ordered all new iso rubbers from Phil at Fair Spares. It has been ten years since I replaced them last, and I think back then I got the "hard" rubbers because it has always vibrated worse. Back then, I removed and replaced the rear iso rubbers all while in the frame. I remember...
