The fact that HF tools are substandard is secondary to the guy in this video. He is hilarious (worth checking out other of his vids)

I used the HF 6 ton jack stands many times over the last 6 years, and several of those times fully extended while I was under my hot rod. I figured they were good to use as tall 1 ton jack stands. I shake test the car every time I get them set up, I do not put 6 tons on them (that would be nuts), I do not use them in the dirt, or on a hillside.

I did not bother taking the two with that part number I have back. I have 4 others with slightly different part numbers that are the same 6 ton jack stand other than the number on the label. HF tools are scary and can be a complete waste of money. I've given many away, and tossed a couple (maybe that is the same thing.). I have a few that have held up too. Low height 3 ton floor jacks are one of them.

I hear Ya!
I bought a larger pop rivetter from HF, that kind with two long arms, for doing 1/4" stainless rivets. This is basically a knock off of the US made rivetter called the "Big Daddy" of something like that. At around $20 vs $150, hard to pass it up. Well, managed to do two 1/4" rivets before the internal jaw clamps broke apart. Luckily, these tools have lifetime replacement coverage....so went and exchanged for a fresh one, managed to do another 6 rivets and my job was done.....

Another video showing the failure modes and what replacement stands do differently....I'll be checking my units for these issues even though recently bought and not on recall list...
