Thats actually a really good idea hobot, very inventive! Bwolfie - how much would u be talking for a set of plugs for a tank :-)

Let me finish looking for existing ones. They seem so far to not be available easily. Next step is to make some. BUt that adds to the growing list of things i'm making. I'll know more tonight, I might have some time on the lathe today, we'll see.

Did you mean 1/2 x 19? My 74 Roadster tank seems to be 1/2 by 20, or at least my 1/2 x 20 tap fit closely enough to chase the threads with just hand pressure. I just got a couple of bolts from ACE Hardware.

1/4 BSP fuel tap threads are 19 tpi................not a great idea to have used the wrong tap, as this may well result in a need to use to epoxy to prevent leaks.

Why fit bolts of the wrong thread form to fuel tank outlets? If you are trying to snake oil a tank, the easiest way to plug the outlets is to use modelling clay.

The tap holes are 1/4-19 BSP, I know because I just purchased a tap and die this week. Does anyone have interest in purchasing a pair of plugs for the tap holes.

I just bought brass blanking plugs - from the plumbing section of the local hardware.
Right thread, think they were $2 or $3 each.

These fit the tap holes in most Brit tanks going back into the dark ages...
