GPS speedo and electronic tach...Green Globe

as to the 10 foot lead after it was fitted i folded it up and tie wrapped it under the seat near the oil tank.
never mind the dirty bike as I have been caught in the rain the last 2 ride's I have been on. :x

Bill, what did you do with the 10 foot of antenna wire, and were did you place the antenna?

One of speedhuts promo videos said they would read through fiberglass, so you could possibly mount it under the stoplight fairing.

My factory Honda CRV uses the same antenna, it sits under the plastic dash and also has the windscreen to cope with too and never loses the signal except in tunnels, then two accelerometers take over and will keep the sat nav updated for a few minutes.

there is not enough room. if you look at how wide it is V the fairing plus all the wires.

Bill,

So far you've had a go at convincing those of us with a duff o/e speedo or a cream- crackered drive. What about the rest of us?? My speedo and drive have worked fine for the life of the machine, so why should I give these units a second look? In other words, can you say something about all the other bells and whistles these things have? Did you test them? Will it really tell me how quick my 850 is over a standing quarter or whether my 0-60 time was any better today than yesterday and can I download that data? That interests me. I'd like to hear the hard sell with these things- what else can they do apart from tell me electronically what I can already know mechanically?

Thanks

if your OE stuff is still working than there is probably no need to sell you on these. I will say if you have gotten that kind of service from the drive box and speedo than you are a lucky fellow.

the other bells and whistles are just that. as to testing the 0-60 and quarter mile times I am not going to beat on my bike, been there done that and broke to many parts so I will leave it up to some other cowboy.

these are not a data logger to save the kind of info you are asking about. if that is what you are after than you need to look at that kind of equipment.

these are just an alternative to replace the existing gauges with something a bit more modern and usable. if someone need a speedo, tach or both than IMHO it is worth taking a look at this option

Thank you Bill,

I wanted to know if you'd tested these extra digital functions like the GPS, 0-60 times and quarter miles, but I wasn't asking you to destroy your bike in the process. If you tried them did you find them reasonably easy to use, accurate and reliable? As someone whose been lost more than once on the continent, knowing which way is north would be pretty handy. And speaking as someone whose tried unsuccessfully to webcam my speedo and tach, the acceleration measures would certainly come in handy when experimenting with gearing or carburation, if only to confirm the rider's 'seat of the pants' impression. These additional functions sound really useful and might well make the difference if I ever find myself in need of new clocks. I hope you'll let us know when there's any more news on the studs.

on the ride I did last weekend with them I did try out the compass, altimeter and trip functions. I will say that so far it is fun to see the elevation changes where I was riding. also the clock so no need to carry an additional time piece. also to watch the compass hit all directions in a 3 mile stretch of road is a hoot. just an FYI but you probably know this, it is NOT a mapping GPS as in how to get from point A to B. as to the 0-60 and 1/4 mile if you was so inclined it might prove useful as a possible tuning aid but I have no interest in that part of them.

yes I will let the group know as to when the next ones will have stud's
