When I went to pick it up I notice the frame was tweaked at the neck. So of course I back away from it hard. But after settling on a price of $75.00 I figured, what the hell, it can't hurt. It's a 69 BSA Thunderbolt I believe.

Shouldn't be hard to find a frame.
 
SEVENTYFIVE dollars . such hardship. Hope it wasnt to far away, the cost of petrol an all . :p :shock: :oops:

Might pay to judiciuosly jack front tubes / mount, or pry clear of case, and block between tubes , before
pulling the donkey .

INCEDENTLY , THOSE BSA's have a PRE-UNIT spaceing / witdth on the rear mountings .
So it may be possible to throw a Norton engine and box in , useing the AMC Chaincase.

The old dirt track look perhaps ? The finned rockercover was a update , yearewise , mayve been earlier in the U.S.

The front brake is a ' classic ' .Single sided 8 in ( dont ask about the single sided 7 in with the tin drum that warps )
Good power and response for dirt roads rideing hard. But would be overwhelmed pulling down from the ton repeatedly
roadraceing , nevertheless , Lots of Goldstars ran them , cleaning up clubmans in the I.o.M., Have too be a keeper 8) .

Also std on the A65 Spitfire series one .

Im sure you could jack the frame straight with a hydraulic press / bench .Or cunning use of a bottle jack , several 4 x 2s and
a solid door frame or tree , if you took it slowly & quitely .Id check if the length is right for 750 if fitting new downtubes .

tweaked the cradle on a 71 for pre unit Triumph , 1 1/4 in , so consider ONE and FIVE EIGTHS Longer is the Correct amount
to add in the bottom tubes . :oops: :wink: though AMC isnt neccesarily the same shaft spaceing .


First Rickmans were A10 frame , tiger 100 donk & Norton forks , They called this a ' Motocrosser ' ! :|
 
Looks more like a accident with the tractor in reverse in the shed , :shock: , the frame , than a prang .
That said hes made a good job of it . :cry: . Might pay to ' free ' the front downtubes half way down , to get the steering head back in ' stress free ' alignment. that leaving the door open for other mods.( not to mention a Norton fit cradle :lol: )

Converse to the previous blather , the A65 mounts in the Featherbed easily . Wouldnt be the first time it was done .
Dumping the other stuff in a drum of oil would impede corosion , all worth millions to restorers these days.Bar the pipes . :lol:

Chris Vincent got a few sidecar world champs with the A65s , apparently big valves, ports and carbs was pretty much it . :D

A65L & A65T vary only in the head most years.One with the outer valve seats un ' recessed' :roll: / eroded , so oversize valves seat clean , out in the chambers .With NO external or internal damadge would get the twin carbs . That said , Id bore the intake
manifold to 32 , or 36 if its to be a cowboy tune , for that size carb.Some people even fit a single carb to a Commando. :?
