I've never seen so much corn grown in my area as this year, and it was a good year for corn here. As I remember my county has the largest corn production/acre in the state.

I heard that too. But wonder what the likelihood of this holding or even going back: probably nil.
Too many making money or saving the world Im afraid. Meanwhile at least it isnt getting worse.
Commonsense rare amongst us humans.

I thought this thread would be about it now being legal to marry your motorcycle. Remember ethanol was to offset the strangling O.P.E.C. oil embargo and it would go back to before ,after the crisis was resolved. Income tax a temporary measure too until the end of the war. Go figure.

They have to use all that GMO corn somehow, especially now that China and most European andother Asian countries are banning it. Even with ex Monsanto corporate officers entrenched in our government, even writing "farm bills"..The American people are rejecting it even just to burn it in their cars.

Could write a book about Monsanto corp. = evil. Like when The Empire fires up the Death Star laser to toast that Insignificant little planet. Terminator genes so friendly too.

It might have a beneficial effect on the price of tortillas, too :D

Apparently not even that small benefit, as the use of corn as biofuel pushed the price of corn up.

"Yet more opposition came from livestock farmers -- both large and small -- who saw the cost of feed inflated by having to compete with ethanol. Hit hard by the drought, many farmers had to abandon buying corn altogether,"

U.S. corn price is currently at $4.73/bushel. That's pretty near break-even price. The cost of seed, fertilizer, weed and insect chemicals, the enormous increase in agriculture machinery has nearly doubled production costs in the last 44 years. There's more than 4 times more corn grown in the U.S. now than there was in 1965. http://www.indexmundi.com/agriculture/?country=us&commodity=corn&graph=production Of course, ethanol makes for a good scapegoat.

In 1966, I was offered a neighbor's farm, in southern Minnesota, for $500/acre. Today, that same farm would sell for nearly $10,000/acre.

Is that not just inflation, over 50 years?

a UK house say in 1965 worth 4000 would sell for near 350,000 today. maybe just not comparing like for like assets.

The City of London banksters paid for District of Columbia scallywags have confused most people minds so they don't even realize how much stealing has gone on with built in bankrupcy and inflation.

$1,000 of 1971 dollars would be worth: $5,780.35 in 2013
$1,000 of 2013 dollars would be worth $173.00 in 1971

$1,000 of 1871 dollars would be worth: $19,230.77 in 2013
$1,000 of 2013 dollars would be worth $52.00 in 1871

$1,000 of 1774 dollars would be worth: $28,571.43 in 2013
$1,000 of 2013 dollars would be worth $35.00 in 1774

So what were we paying during our golden motorcycling era for the non-ethanol fuel with the high octane of 110 at the pump during those years ,1968-75.

I remember buying fuel oil for the house in the early 70's for .18/G. As I remember gas was going for about .35/G but it shot way up after the 'shortage'.

Pres NIxon put price freeze on US in later part of that era of long long long gas station lines. Just prior regular $.-75 and hi test ethyl ~$1.00

search up inflation calculators and reasons for inflation to steal us blind by too big to jail Inc's like banksters and the Gov't they bought.
