I didn't go very far, just across the river to Vancouver. I wanted to check out a gas station up there that sells non-ethanol. Funky little country store that at one point was out in the country. They said their business has greatly gone up with the non-ethanol gas, and they didn't charge any more than ethanol premium. I put in a little over 4 gallons. That would be great for touring but you ass would give out way before the gas ran dry.

That was up north of Vancouver Lake, I went back down a bit and then up along the Columbia River. There are a couple roads that just go along the river and dead end.

Fourth of July Ride

The first one is on the west side of Vancouver Lake. Probably popular with the adolescent crowd, it seems they go up there to shoot old TVs, drink and fornicate. Kinda like Arkansas but the residents have more teeth.

Up above the bike you can see Mt. St. Helens, mountains always look bigger in person that through the camera, of course it's a small lens so that contributes.

Fourth of July Ride

Again the lens doesn't help here but there is a ship in the middle of the field. Of course it just looks that way.

So that's all the riding I'll get in this weekend. I have the day to myself next Saturday so I might make a run to the coast.

When I took the stock seat off I forgot to tighten the knobs so I've lost one. :( Probably needed new ones anyways.

Hehe, I may loose a molar to fit in better here but still smile with some level of IQ about as smart our ole hound dogs. As the newness and honeymoon with the sexy cafe Roadster looks fades so will your desire to ride if it wears you out before 4-5 gallon of gas burnt in one leg. Hell on Ms Peel I could use up 4 gallons in a morning out running squids and sane sport riders I challenged for joy rides. Commando's don't get 50 mpg holding WOT near redline ya know, well no guess ya don't and don't recommend you try on a non rear linked or rear rub plate stabilized one. I learned that much here in OurKansas you urbanite. I love Lily Thomlins wisdom quote.

"You know when you win the rat race - you are still a rat!"

Dave, how many miles you got on that thang now? It's tough for me to go much over 30 miles yet, but that's my age showing up. I'm still sore from the other day when I flooded it and had to kick it over about 6 times to clear it. Gets me all over my back, shoulders and arms. But I'm working up to it.

Ah, youth.

To tell the truth I haven't keep track of the miles. I figure I put on over 100 the first weekend and just kept going. Not many long trips, yet. Did upgrade to AAA Plus so that is free towing with 100 miles from home, which puts the coast within range. The Proddy seat isn't too bad on smooth roads but you sure stand on the pegs when you meet a bump.

It looks like I'm a no go for the Rally. So now I'm seeing if I can't come out in October for Barber. And that's a short ride from NC.

Swoosh I remember how beautiful it is up there, I don't think I could resist doing at least 200 rides onvavregular basis. By the way I love that Bultaco sign hanging in your garage, Iv'e been looking at thier old street bikes like the Metralla, what other street bikes did they make?

Yeah, but the only street bike to have is the Metralla. I wish I had one.

Nice juant Dave. Did you notice any difference with the new Gas?

When I first put the non-ethanol in I had to tweak the carbs a little. But now it seems to be happy with either.

Nice cruise pics! I put a tank of Shell 94 in last week, reported to be non ethanol. Left cylinder started missing within 2 miles and had a surging idle. I've pulled the left carb cleaned and blew out the jets and passage ways in case the fill-up stirred up some crap and clogged something. Everything looked fine. We'll see how it runs after I get a rocker cover stud replaced. Never seem to be content to fix just one thing when I've got the tank off...

I have a couple of safety pins I've been meaning to put in the knobs on my Interstate. I don't weant to lose one; every time you order one, it never matches the one that didn't fall off.

There's a roll pin that should have held it on but the mechanic failed to do so even after staring at the pin for a while prior to the ride.

New knobs are $25/pair from Commando Specialties.
