Some of the guys from the Oregon Norton Enthusiasts club went for a ride a little while ago. I'm still not trusting my carbs. Keep in mind they are original carbs with new anodized slides. Now when they get really hot they appear to stick? It's weird as the cable isn't slack. I just can't figure this one out. I have a feeling new carbs are in it's future. Premiers too because I need more adventures.

It was in my subscribed feed and I saw it as soon as I could. Mike’s videos are very welcome and eagerly waited for. It was good to see all of you out in the road - things are getting closer to normal albeit slowly.

Hi Dave,
I had a similar carb problem on my Triumph TR6. The carb slide would stick when hot. The carb had been over tightened onto the manifold and distorted. On mine it would release if I loosened the bolts holding it to the manifold. My problem was fixed by using wet and dry on glass to flatten the carb port and manifold.
Seems unlikely that both your carbs would stick at the same time, but still worth a check.

That is my suspicion and the carbs will be coming off soon.

That's a great idea, more people should be subscribing to the channel. @Mike T works hard at producing all of these videos and I know more people would love to see them. They come out more frequently that I can post them here, which is saying a lot! And the variety is great as well, well, as long as you like British bikes. Where else can you tune into and see a bevy of Nortons, Vincents, BSA and Triumphs every week? The answer is... no where!

Also Dave, unlike many other you-tubers he’s facing the camera talking to his mates and not talking ‘at’ them.
I want to see how he gets on with the Bushman exhausts , and the Vincent, and his Commando and not forgetting Shep. He’s not got enough time in the day, more’s the pity.

Do not sand the carb flange flat, it doesn't fix the actual warpage in the slide body. The slide body axis must be re-aligned, this is only accomplished with a straightening jig.

Eventually one of my sleeeved original slides started to stick, so I removed it and lapped it like you would a valve to get some witness marks on the carb body, then I sanded the high spots, checking the fit as I went. Then finished up with 1000 grit. It's hard to say if heat caused the carb body to distort or maybe I overtightened them (probably the second one, I have a degree in ham fisting) It did work to aleviate the hanging up, probably at the expense of leaning out the idle, if you follow my thinking...

Yes, getting in front of the camera is the best way to connect with your audience.

It's better to have too many projects than not enough. At least that's the lie I tell myself! I suspect he'll get back to his builds in the winter, this time of year is all about riding and event (or it would have been about events) but don't you worry, you'll see the inside of the garage one of these days.

Boy, that was like a pro video. I wonder why everyone was hanging around in the shade though? It's not like our 90° heat and humidity here in VA.

Then why is anyone hanging around in the shade if it's 72? It's not that cool in my house with the A/C on. It's just that the humidity is lower than outside, sometimes.

Why are you so wound up as to where people are standing?

Thanks Dave
Mike is doing a great job. Inspirational get out a ride 'em stuff.

The sticking slide should be the Amal mascot.

I don't know, it just seemed strange. I know why here in VA, sun is really hot here and we're a fair amount farther south than OR, so the sun is even higher in the sky. That's all, or blame it on the virus.
