Fork differences - Ohlins Vs Roadholders, etc

Hey - I've spotted a few bikes recently that have the black "Roadholder" forks. What's the main differences between these and the USD Ohlins my CR has? Is there a preference? I assume they were model specific?

Nothing wrong with my Ohlins...I'm just curious.

I think they are just badges glued on. No difference in the forks as far as I know.
 
The 50th anniversary bikes in 2018/2019 had the upside down black ohlins forks which were also fitted to the Domiracer and had the roadholder badges. I believe the forks are the same apart from the colour and badges.
 
Yep, they took a pair of circa £2500 Ohlins FGRT race spec forks, and stuck bloody badges on them. I never did like that...sorry to those that do like it.
The badges arrived flat with hammer rivets. Production would grind the rivets down and glue them into the badge, usually with the Threebond rtv that we used in Engine Build. They were given the curve by bending them over the tubed wheel stop on the end of each bays ramp.

The long term intention was to build their own forks as Ohlins were so expensive and “difficult to work with”. The idea was to build the Roadholder brand first, then start building their own forks once the brand was accepted. This is according to a conversation with SG.

However the plan never progressed further than the ‘glue some bent up badges on’ stage…

Kinda surprised that Ohlins didn’t have something to say about this ‘badge engineering’ really.

They got a bloody good deal with Ohlins though, essentially 50% off.
The Atlas and Ranger were gearing up to use Marzocchi suspension, iirc
 
I'm just happy that my CR was one of the first (one of first 5 bikes in the UK, to be exact) so the "issues" with suppliers wasn't a thing when I got mine....hopefully
