Fastback tail section reflectors?

Anyone know where I could get a pair of the reflectors used on the tail section of the fastback. I have the parts manuals and unless I missed it, I can't even find a listing for the reflector. The rest of the related parts for the fastback tail section are all shown. I checked on the Old Britts site and don't see it listed anywhere either. I'm NOT saying it isn't there (parts book or Old Britts), just saying that I couldn't find it. But as my wife notes, I can be looking right at something and not see it...

The reflectors are pretty standard items, you could go to a motorcycle wrecking yard and get the ones for egad Japanese bikes, in Mexico, that should be very easy to get from the local mobile parts getters :wink:

As for wives seeing better than us, it's a fallacy, I think they hide stuff on purpose just to make us think we can't find it :wink: :wink:

They are a lucas reflector amber for front under tank red for tail. there were some copy red reflectors advertised on ebay uk i have a set coming but as they have not arrived i cant comment on the quality.

Excellent! that catalog shows it - "Lucas rear reflector, small" It is the only one that looks to me like the original, smaller than the ones under the tank and with a chrome ring around them. Guess I'll have to order them up from the UK!

Britcycle have them, but only the amber version at the moment: http://www.britcycle.com/products/Refle ... &57162.htm so other US suppliers may have red ones?

This reflector was also used on the rear tail housing of 1970 and earlier Commando Roadsters, and on the 1970 and earlier Norton Fastback tail housing, but may have been red on some applications. At present, we can only supply in amber, as used on fronts.

I just finished downloading/looking through the Commando Brochures and it appears that the fastback reflectors changed in 71 from the nice looking smaller ones with the chrome bezel to larger, less elegant versions. The larger ones are readily available but the smaller ones, not so much.

Since I have made a fastback out of my '73 850 roadster, there is no issue with "originality" so I'll get the smaller ones that look better. Hey, nobody but us Norton geeks would really know or care that my 850 fastback Commando never really existed! I guess I could put a "750 Commando" decal on the side covers instead of "850 Commando" and make it more "appearance-accurate." I mean really, who the heck is going to realize it's an 850? (Yeah, sure, those few Norton geeks!

Mexico Mike the red Fastback is the same as mine except mine is metal flake green. Chrome front guard stays and headlight brackets with the upswept pea shooters. Date stamped 12/69. Thanks for the link. Sorry for the thread hijack.
