Fitting low level pipes with used parts , eBay or came from other bikes and I'm wondering am I making things hard for myself. I'm I missing other exhaust brackets available to avoid making bracket extensions and either losing the centre stand or fitting a different one altogether.

Not the best photos but may give you the jist of it. The cans are after market with slot fitting the pipes came from Ron Fratturelli off eBay four odd years ago first time fitting for me, slight twist in maybe the TS one.

Re: Exhaust brackets early low level?

You look to be missing a few mounting plates. Do you not have an illustrated parts book?

Re: Exhaust brackets early low level?

Items 24 (SILENCER SUPPORT STAY p/n 06.0563) and 26 (SILENCER MOUNTING BRACKET p/n 06.0564) are available from Andover Norton. These are the original mounts used for the early fastback. It looks like early fastback head pipes are what are on your bike, so they should fit straight away.

Re: Exhaust brackets early low level?

Hi, cheers guys.

These are the brackets you mentioned fitted to an early commando with old style mufflers ( exhausts) with the 5/16 threaded mounts , mine does not have these ,it's a slotted fitting and it is a few inches further back. I have these brackets fitted. Hard to see but they have a rectangular plate to extend to the slot only temporary till I sort this "sheet" out. Here is a recent photo from AN.

I was wondering if there is something else out there. I have got parts books and a suplimentary book that unfortunately I cannot seem to find.

Hi,

Cheers Andy missed out some pretty basic info on original post. The bike I believe to be a tinterpol, reg 71 with a 13#### number the bike has been rebuild with parts as available not model or year correct. It is fitted with a later centre stand which is fouling on the drive side aftermarket exhaust so just wondering if I was making an easy job difficult? The frame is the early type with the crossbar at the sump plug.

Re: Exhaust brackets early low level, to avoid centre stand

Thanks Auldblue

Ah the Interplod. Had a bit of a dig around parts lists.

For 1971 there are parts listed under 'Exhaust System Low Level For Use With Panniers' including a bracket '34' 06.2547.
Unfortunately this is not available from Andover Norton or RGM and looks to be 'unobtainium'.

For 1972 parts are listed for Interpol and Interstate and include brackets which might work, see page 7 of the brochure in this link:
http://www.classicbike.biz/Norton/Brochures/1970/72NortonBrochure.pdf
Looks like you'd then need 2x '25' 06.3132 and 2x '27' 06.3131 brackets, see Andover Norton:
https://andover-norton.co.uk/en/shop-drawing/46/exhausts-mufflers-mute-passenger-footpegs

I'd take some measurements for what is required and give Andover Norton a call.

Hope this helps and good luck with the bike.

Cheers Matt ,
Can't expand photo to get a good look and can't find on eBay. Going to make the templates out of steel as they need a slight angle on them to take them out slightly away from the frame and then get them plasma cut as I would like them with straight lines. I have other brackets but it was impossible to get them off the frame and get the kickstart to pass as they were designed for either slight upswept or the interstate with the turn. But because I have the 68-69 ,06.0620/1 low level headers and the 06.4031 center stand 141783 on ,I think I am screwed and will have to fit the early 06.1116 stand.

Thanks Andy, I spoke to Ash and Simon from AN about this in Feb , they couldn't have been more helpful they also said the Tinterpol brackets were unobtainable. My 69 bike has different brackets also but it has the early stand on it so it does not foul, thanks for the link, superb.

Cheers Jg
