Early type Rear light

Not too long ago I bought an LED stop tail bulb which retro fitted straight into the holder, to get a measure of it's effectiveness I videoed it on my phone whilst I twiddled the switches and applied the brakes etc, when I watched the playback one thing became evident, which is; that both with the ordinary bulb and the LED replacement, the early rear light is absolutely shite!!! If I taped a £1 cheap bicycle flashing LED to it it would be a 200% improvement. The lit up part of the unit is all of 1 1/2" round and you'd have to be on top of it before you saw it. Are there any known mods to be made to this unit??

Yeah , it might be worse but it looks a lot better in my opinion . I converted my MK3 back to the earlier light . Colorado Norton Works make an LED insert for it . Don't know if it works with +ve earth though , check their website out .

The kit was made by bulbsthatlast4ever, who have just recently stopped manufacturing product. You can still buy stuff that is in the channel, and they work with either positive or negative earth. I have one in mine and it is great - much better than the stock bulb.
