Had one of these in 89 Factory superlite with all Olins suspension wish I had it back! Sold it for $3800
 
I read a period road test of the 900 Superlight .
They put the bike on their scales and found that it weighed 445 lbs curb weight, iirc. That doesn't seem super light, even for that time period.
Perhaps they should have called it the Ducati 900 Sortalight?
 
It was sorta light compared to the standard bike but not by much. The 900ss really is a great bike with a torquey motor similar to our 850s and great handling. I’ve had a couple and they are quirky but I think they are destined for collector status. The riding position is probably a deterrent for this audience.
 
Probably have wrong year for my Ducati, they tend to run together. It had all the factory carbon fiber parts, got shitty looking with age. Clear coated them to look new
