Do Vincent flat bars fit with an interstate tank ?

Hi Fast Eddie

Sorry I do not know about vincent straights on an Interstate, but I do know about fitting them to a Roadster.

The night before leaving SE England for St Tropez I decided to fit Vincent straights to my Roadster Commando.

My Commando had "Norvil" rear sets.

The Vincent straights gave the most uncomfortable and painful 2500 miles I've ever experienced.

Try a few short journeys first and don't fit Vincent straights after a few beers in the pub before going to St Tropez
early the next morning !

(Sorry it's not entirely relevant)

I don't know. But I do know that standard domestic market Triumph bars (early 70s) do NOT work with a Interstate tank.
Tank is too fat. I was so disappointed as I have them on two other bikes. Stock Interstate (Euro) bars are too wide for my taste. Bah.

The longer Interstate tank locates the seat rearward. This is why stock Interstate bars have more "pullback". With straight Vincent style bars I think most people would find the seating position uncomfortable: forward bars, forward footpegs, and rearward seat.

Somebody must know ?
My Flanders drag bar fouls the Interstate tank. It didnt work with the tank pushed back as far as possible. 18 degree bend, 4″ pull back, 9″ straight center section and 31″ wide

Another rear set thread...

The Interstate tank prtrudes further forward than a Roadster or my alloy Lyta sprint style tanks. I need to use UK rise bars on the Interstate.

RGM specs their Vincent straight as

WIDTH: 27.25"
HEIGHT: LAST 9" EITHER SIDE IS A 18 DEGREE LIFT

I’m using Corbins seats though and I don’t think your point applies to Corbin seats. A Corbin roadster and interstate seat is the same seat, but on the interstate version, the front is chopped off. So basically, irrespective of tank choice, the riders arse is in the same place.

That’s what I suspected, thanks.

So do you use the Vincent bars with the other tanks? If so, what are they like? Do you concur with staytie ?

What bars were you replacing / comparing to out of interest ?

The Vincent bars I’ve mocked up seem a lot more comfortable than the clip ons I’m looking to replace…

No (edit: I don't concur)

I actually prefer the drag bars to the UK bars. I rode ~1500 mile road trip over 5 days to the South Island with them, and it was very comfortable. Handling is better in twisties, IMHO.

And more comfortable than my Ducati, which would be more similar to your MV or clip ons I would guess.

Give the people what they want...

But, I really like the width of the Flanders drag bar. The RGM Vincent bar is 3.25" narrower, which is too narrow IMHO.

My UK bars are about as wide as the Flanders drag bar.

Handle bar risers posted look well made unlike the last POS I got off ebay. That would be a pretty pricey affair though due to import from NZ to UK
Will try and sus out a UK supplier...fitted
