Unless we do something constructive, the era of guys building their own race bikes will pass. A Rickman frame was often the basis of a very good bike. If we all develop the mentality that factory-built is better, motorcycles will become throw-away items like table-tennis bats. I don't like historic racing, but these days it seems to be all the opportunity which remains. I would much rather own a Molnar Manx than any Ducati. But building your own race bike and winning with it, is something else.

Any Ducati , surely you type that in jest …. several Dukes come to mind if you need comparisons …. But really just WOW !

Yes , indeed. Each to his own however. Just means less queue for those of us who have Seen The Light

It is each to his own
I can't think of any Ducati I'd rather own than a Molnar Manx
I've never owned or ridden a Manx and I've only owned/ridden one Ducati and that was an 860gt which I loved and whish I still had so I can't really judge
Cheers

The day of traditional petrol powered motorbiking is passing as we watch.
The Old Warriors likely lucky they don't have to see it end.
...I'm going to head out on my Rickman right now for a memorial ride.

I've always had a lot of respect for Rickman.
A friend of mine and I built a "Rickmaha" back in the early 70's. 360 Yammy 2 stroke in a Rickman frame. Was a pretty bike with a Nickel plated frame, beautiful welds, and a custom tank. It was successful in many Enduros. Wish I had it now.

I would like to apologize to everyone for my reply to Acotrel , thought I was working in “best modern twin” thread … would never intentionally disrespect Mr.Rickman in this way …. He was a great inovator and frames and bikes from his and his brothers shop are timeless … again very sorry ….
