Has anyone had good results producing restoration crimps with these tools?

I am thinking you would just set it up in a vice rather than turning the screws.

Yes. I don’t buy pre made fuel lines. Have been using this crimp tool for around 40 years.

I never got a good result with that type of tool.
I ended up buying a Milton crimping tool 1626. Not cheap but delivered the right result (and does 5 sizes - good for oil lines too)

Haven't used that Milton tool for a while so did a "test" one so you can see result...

Both look like good quality tools.

I have seen tools which produce ring-type or side crimps.

haven't made fuel lines for my Norton yet, but on my BSA resto project, i bought this tool - got very nice ring crimps on brass. to get a 360° crimp, it takes two crimps, 90° apart. crimp tool - CBS, about $43

BTW, if you're in the States, try McMaster-Carr for ferrules and fuel line. i bought 50 brass ferrules for about $15 (+ shipping). brass, aluminum, stainless available.

I got successful crimps with the tool shown in the original post, but only after trying numerous different crimp /hose combinations and even then sometimes with a leak.
Here in the UK the crimps sold at the Classic Bike shows by various vendors don't work ime, they don't fit into the hose . The crimps look a lot neater but it's more work replacing the yellowed /brittle clear fuel lines every so often over worm drive clips, especially as I've forgotten where I got the crimps that DID work !
Don't turn this into a hose thread please ., we've had those already.
