A quick question for the gurus here - is there any difference between Dominator rockers and Commando ones?

In a similar post shown on the Dommy site I stated that my memory bank tells me there were two widths .
I believe someone then stated they were all the same. Being too olde, fat, idle and knackered to go up into my loft and find the two boxes marked 'Rockers S.H'. and 'Rockers New'.simply to check my memory is still working correctly I have just phoned a friend who stated that the widths were shortened by approx 1/8 inch from 1967 on to allow the head casting to be thicker to give greater support to the outer side of the rocker spindles.
The olde memory bank tells me that the forging number on them never changed from day one but that they machined them differently to reduce the width.
HINT. the tooling for the rocker spindle lock plate was SERIOUSLY knackered LONG before NVT eventually went arse over tit but they continued using it and the bits that are suppossed to lock off the spindle to stop it rotating do NOT stick out far enough to do so in some (many?) cases. Thus peoples rocker shafts rotate and become loose in the head (helping keep a friend busy at times repairing them and possibly helping pay for his holiday in Arizona this coming New Year!!). Make sure the rocker shaft is fully into the head as far as it will go and check that the locking plate does its job and if it doesnt give the ears a ding to ensure they stick out further as they used to when the tooling was correct. Better still get a lump of stainless and get it milled leaving one long ear sticking up and cut to oval shape etc. Personally with modern(ha Ha) lost wax casting etc I cannot understand why one piece stainless locking plates have not been not cheaply available for decades...its a time consuming pain in the butt chomping them out of solid stainless!!
