Commando in a g15

Hello I have been a member for a little while and read the many comments often. I have a lot of parts from a g15 but no atlas engine however I have a early commando or most of it it's in the frame no problem but my question is now the motor is upright will the oil holes in the case need to be blanked and re drilled.. Also can I use the latter timing cover with the points in it thank you .dave s

There are a few around with a sat up commando motors clearly it has been done. But don't forget the crank will need re-balanced.

How early ?
20M3?
the earliest commando's had cases exactly like the atlas. See below:

The drain hole was determined to need lowering ( I assume due to the angle) and the 20M3 case casting was modified and an additional hole was added.
The additional hole remained through 20M3S. .........just plug the lower hole to be like an early upright engine.
Commando in a g15

You will need a 20M3S series to run points on cam.
The upper hole disappeared at 200000 series.

Thanks the crankcase number for the nearly complete motor is 20m3 127694 and I have a spare set of cases with number 20ms 135219 which similar to you 2nd picture thanks for your help so far.
