The guy that posted this on fecebook says he learned the trick from a "very old Norton mechanic from a dealership"...

It's a "flame ring" copper gasket.

I replied: "now you are almost certain to have A) pushrod tunnel leaks and/or B) a warped head"

That is my belief. The copper "flame rings" cannot crush to the same degree as the very soft alloy rings on a composite gasket, which STILL allows the fibre material to crush properly.

...or else EVERYONE would be selling them at twice the price...

Standard flame ring gaskets work perfectly well. So I wonder what problem he is trying to solve?

It looks just bead-rolled to me. Shouldn't cause a problem, but not solve any either.

I think I will just stick with VHT copper cement and a torque wrench.

I hardly ever post to the technical facebook pages, its got to be the worst way to ask for and receive help. Any good posts disappear and only the dross is left.

It should really be called HaynesBook but then they would be breaking copyright

myfacebook was compromised years ago and Ive just let it go. I tried to get it sorted out but such a pain in the neck. there are times I miss out on stuff though.

Its only real use for me now is to find companies who do not have a website but have a Facebook page. Why they do that is beyond my comprehension but I have found some local companies who solely use Facebook and saved me the bother of going further afield.
