So I’m now tinkering on a 1964 Atlas. The front tire is old enough to lead me to believe it could be the original… maybe.
I was under the impression that date codes didn’t begin until 1968, but the front tire on this machine is an Avon Speedmaster II with the code “YCR”. I’ve been unable to match this to a date code- can anyone in the colective identify when this tire came into existence?
The reason for asking is that if it is the original tire it would give me a better indication of the total chassis mileage- which is unknown as the speedometer is awol. All I know for certain is that it’s been laid up since 1991.
