850 MKIII Swing Arm Grease Fitting?

I'm afraid I'm guilty of the other extreme
I once left my swing arm bushings un oiled for ages
The pin went rusty and wore out ,this was complete lack of maintenance on my part
And I'm guilty of the opposite. Having owned my MKII since new, I oiled the swingarm every time I changed the rear tire. It leaked out, of course.

The MKII has a unique swingarm, with felt wicks and welsh plugs like the MKIII but also with a central fixing bolt like earlier models. Somewhere around 30,000 miles I took it apart for service and found it to be as clean and slippery as the day it was born. I still oil it once in a while... and watch it drip out.

I always thought that the MkIIa had the welch plug/wick set up. My dad has a MkII (3096XX), and it still has the old center spindle bolt / lube nipple arrangement.

But then, who knows - the one thing that they were consistent with was their inconsistency!! LOL!!

August 74 build MKII. Yep, consistently inconsistent.

The sealed pivot assembly was used on later Mk2s and Mk2As, not just Mk2A.
