I have just read that he has died. I believe he was a very good age. Well known for offering his excellent welding skills free at the TT for decades.

he was the man who suggested the early frame modification for Commandos, after 5 very serious failures in the USA( mostly offroad). There is a youtube called “norton frame test” about the whole episode.
