Head steady

Hello again gents! My Seeley framed Norton 750 is slowly coming together and I now have the engine in the frame, wondering what to do with the cylinder head steady. The engine is rigidly mounted in the frame and now I have those
3 holes at the top of the cylinder head that seems to want to be connected to something. Questions are to what and why?
I have a 270 degree crank balanced at 50% if that helps in casting light on the issue. Any and all cooments and advise are very much welcomed. See www.myseeley.net for more info on what I am doing!

I don't have any experience with the Mk 2 frames, but I do have pictures of a Commando engine in a later Caffrey replica Seely frame used on the Commonwealth Norton. They show a fabricated head steady that was hung from the frame tubes with circular clamps. You can see the details in these pictures. For what it's worth, all the Mk2 Seely frames I've seen with G50 singles also use a top mount.

I’ve run a 270 deg NRE Weslake engine in a Seeley Mark 2 (Titchmarsh) frame for many years without a head steady and it has worked fine. That’s not say it wouldn’t work better with a headsteady but I haven’t had any problems in not using one and I haven’t had the opportunity to try one since there is nothing on the Weslake head to attach it to, other than the rocker covers. I know Steve Maney uses a head steady on his Norton twin engined Mark 2 Seeley (but they’re not 270 deg) . -HTH

Thanks for pictures of those very long intake tubes! That is encouraging as mine are also
very long, to the extent that I feared they were tooo long.

I looked through my other pictures fo the bike, and this one shows the construction a little better.

Have spent the afternoon trying to figure out a good solution. I do not
want to weld or braze anything if I can avoid it so have come up with
a couple of aluminium clamps to attach to the frame crosstube between
the mainfrane tubes and these to attach to a flat plate screwed to the
cylinder head. A bit complex maybe but the best I can come up with.
Let us see if it will work. Pictures coming on my website in due course.
