ES2 RGM Belt Drive

g'day all, hoping members might be able to help me out.
i'm working on a 1934 Norton ES2 & have fitted up a RGM belt drive conversion.
i've fitted & adjusted as per their instructions but the clutch is slipping when kick starting bike?
pressure plate lines up flush with basket teeth & circlip fits snug with spring compressed.
its like the spring is not applying enough force?
inner plate is 4mm
fibre plates are 3.6mm x 3
steel plates are 2.9mm x 3
pressure plate is 7mm
i've contacted RGM on 20/12/23 & again on 3/1/24 with no response
i suggest members do not support companies that do not support their products.....

Try giving RGM a call
They are a staff member down and have probably got behind with emails
 
RGM were always excellent. Loosing an on it member of staff & the owners getting on in age seems to have slowed up response. However it's a bit early to be saying people should drop them! A phone call always works, give it a try.
 
Let’s hope they don’t go the same way as Fred and Ella, nothing goes on forever 😶
 
A clutch slips for basic mechanical reasons.

Having said that, it took me a long time (and internet advice) to fix my slipping clutch in a Hayward belt drive, by picking off the Surflex inserts and glueing cork mat in its place.

You sure the clutch is slipping and not the belt on the engine pulley under acceleration? The belts RGM uses are stiff and slick buggers. Adjusting them so that there is some slack in the run and they don't slip is a tedious process. Also be sure to use one of his clutch rod seals or similar.

I don't know Roger personally, but based on the little notes he includes in his parts deliveries, he's probably a hoot to talk to.

I've had communication issues with Roger via email and wrong parts delivered. I've never resolved the wrong parts, but don't care much, since I was able to work around the error at his end.

If I have general questions about a part and use email... sometimes he'll get right back to me, sometimes nothing.

Keep trying, or use the phone if you have an unlimited phone data plan.

I don't think Roger is a crook or runs a shady business, but he probably is getting older faster than he thought he would. I'm at the point where the brain fog is starting to roll in, so I have some sympathy for him.
 
I gave up awhile back with my RGM missing package, USPS says it had an incomplete address and were returing it. Many e-mails and two phone calls costing more money and never hearing back I guess I should just right it off? $150.00 and nothing. Sad to hear about Roger.
 
Have you checked the clutch plates themselves ?
cleaned them with gasoline ( petrol) ?
I was schooled to never use kerosene ( paraffin) as it has the potential to make them slip .
