I have just read on another site that the state of Delaware has changed it’s helmet laws . As I understand it any newly licensed rider must wear a helmet for the first two years . What astounded me was the previous law - motorcyclists must have a helmet in possession but wearing it is not mandatory.
WTF ! How absurd. Who the hell thinks like that ? I can just imagine the legislators debating this . Unbelievable.

I wear an Arai full face helmet EVERY ride. By CHOICE.
PERSONAL FREEDOMS. They are OURS, the citizens.

But the gummint spending millions telling people what to do is what's absurd.

Have you seen the movie?
This is the end game.

There's some stupid laws out there!!!!

I didn't mean this to be political, ie my party v. your party but rather the almost unbelievable situation in which the entire western world finds itself in. Remember Frank Zappa's immortal words
IT CAN'T HAPPEN HERE.....:-( Well it has. Unbelievable? Probably not.

That DE helmet law sounds like it is a compromise. (That's where neither side gets what they want, and the end product is strange)

Love the Zappa reference.
Reference the "Flakes" song.
Especially the part about "civilization will grind to a standstill"
Chillingly prophetic, the entire thing.

Oh Suzy......Suzy Creamcheese....

I wear a helmet. I do not agree with the Govt. requiring me to wear a helmet. If I lived in a country where medical care was provided, my attitude would be different. Wearing a helmet does not change the cost to society in the US so society (Govt.) should not dictate that one be worn. IMHO, we are supposed to be free to do or say anything that does not harm others.

Politicians.

Is Delaware so wonderful that the legislators don"t have more inportant issues than helmet laws to debate and react to?

Mandatory helmet laws? No, but there should be an ongoing education effort presenting the facts to
those who qualify for a license to ride. And the newbie has to sign off on the fact they understand it. Old riders must do the same every time they renew their license.
Let the rider decide. Maybe his medical insurance company might limit him but that allows the rider
to make his own decision when he buys insurance.
Wear a helmet? Of course, it is madness not to.
