Crazy go cart

All that with your ass 1 1/2 inch off the road!! Do you think he thought he would ever walk again if someone pulled out in front of him! WOW!

I wonder which is more loose - the cart or driver ?
Also don’t know if the seat belt is a good idea or bad in this application…

I read recently that early ejector seats used explosives and sometimes resulted in serious injuries as a by-product of immediate survival....!

That kart has so much HP he can barely keep it hooked up. Hes always on the verge of spinning out coming out of the corners and too much acceleration in lower 2 gears. Spooky stuff!
Sure looks like fun though.

Well, I've heard it said that the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk's cockp[it layout was such that if you had to eject it would break your legs on the instrument panel on the way out. I never worked on any though since they were long gone before I got to my first squadron (F/A-18 C's) so I can't say for sure, but that would be on heck of an incentive to do everything you could possibly do, before pulling that handle ))

It is my understanding that you are almost guaranteed spinal compression injury from any ejection - better than dying though, I suppose…

These high performance go-farts (carts) are built for speed, handling and grip they have great brakes and where most formula I race drivers start their career, in my younger days we have a local race track called Lakeside and was very open to track days, well it has a climb up the back and a down sweeping hill into the straight great for getting top end speed coming down to and on the straight, I was on my Norton and got onto the straight flat out doing 110 mph and this go-fart past me like I was sitting still and by the time I got 1/2 way down the straight he was way out of my sight through the next set of corners.
Later on I got to see the go-fart in the pit area and it was a weapon, 350 RD motor fully bombed, expansion chamber, 5 speed box and big disc brakes set up, as I say it was a beast of a thing and a very experience driver, he told me he had just finish building it and was just running it in and shake down test, I just shook my head in amazement.
That was in late 79 so can you imagine what they be like now.

Not smart riding a Kart on the street. Manhole covers will ruin your day.

I repaired a full race 100cc go cart for one of the young lads at work
It was a direct drive rotary disc valve motor
I thought I'd have a go of it
So I got two strong work mates to give me a shove whilst I choked it up with my hand
I'm thinking to myself it's only a 100 cc it's not gonna do much so i flawed it as it fired
F***********************k me did it go
I was the in the alley along side the factory one second and next thing the factory gone and I was heading for the street
I hit the brake hard and the poxy thing went sideways just stopping before the gate !
Couldn't believe it

My brother in law had two direct drive go carts but the seats were so tight I couldn't get my arse in them to have a go but didn't have anywhere to go except on the road outside so really glad I didn't fit or could have been dangerous.
He loved to spend money on toys but he soon woke up after spending his play money on them and having nowhere to ride them, they weren't built for the dirt so his 5 acre block was no good and to travel 4 hrs to ride them, what was he thinking at the time, he didn't think of that at the time lol.
He now has 2 off road buggies but as soon as he jumps on them his neighbour get upset, he been having troubles with them from day one when he moved in next door, apparently they been trouble with all the neighbours and the last people that lived in the brother in laws place sold up because of all the troubles with them, they always got something to complain about.

We had a kart in our very early teens with a direct drive MAC 10 racing engine with lousy brakes and a foot throttle hard wired to one setting, wide open.
My dad caught me as he was driving home from work while I was burning down the street in it (we promised we would not drive it on the street) headed down to dead mans hill. We called it dead mans hill because our street emptied directly into heavily used two lane traffic .
We controlled the speed via the brakes which was a pedal cabled to a metal flap that when pressed would push against the rear tire...until the cable broke.
When my dad saw how fast it was he "disabled" it, with a governor. "Too much HP for you kids" we were told.
We figured out the governor pretty quickly and then a night later the whole MAC 10 engine disappeared.

I whined and complained and moped until I convinced my dad to help me rig up a 2.5 HP Briggs and Stratton we salvaged from the lawnmower store in place of the Mac 10...that was a seriously disappointing downgrade.
We eventually took the motor off of my buddies Rickman 125 that he wrecked when he hit a tree and his mom said get rid of the motorcycle. We put that motor on the kart.
Then the kart got really fast.
We got caught by the police (again) for driving it on the street and trying to drive away when they ordered us to stop. We said we couldn't hear them because it was so loud after we cut the muffler down on the Rickman because it would have scraped the street.
Seems the neighborhood moms kept calling my house, they didn't care for us racing up and down the street either.
Never did figure out what happened to that Kart.

There is always someone yearning to kill the fun.

The problem is some people retire to a rural retreat and expect everyone around them to comply to their rules, but his neighbour's are just trouble makers and now there are restraining orders on both sides of the fence, the police have told my brother in law that he should get on with his neighbour but they keep complaining about anything to the police and council.
He has no problems with his other neighbours, there is always one in a crowd as they say.
