Hi all,

I have just purchased a 1959 Norton Dominator99, but it has only one ignition key. Can anyone suggest where I can get a spare - code less - key cut (see pics)...?

Thanks,

BD

Pattern keys are Availiable but they are made from soft stuff and bend, they are so simple to make yourself. Std 59 dommies have coil ignition with the PSR8 keyed switch. Earlier bikes usually have mags as do the later SS bikes. In the Uk some early SS 88/99's were sold with coil ignition, just to confuse the Know it all's.

I didn't think a '59 Dommie had a key?? It's got a magneto hasn't it? Can't see your photobucket picture though.

Well, as I'm new to the '59 Dommie99... I don't know. I've not even started my learning curve apart from finding trouble with having only one key (and hence worrying should I lose it).
Don't know what's happened to the pics. It worked when I posted the query. I notice now it tells me Photobucket images are temporarily disabled... for what reason, I don't know.

Thanks, NB. I thought it might be a simple case of getting one cut by a metalworker (or doing it myself), but I wasn't sure if there was some 'special' unspoken 'secret' that I had to know about replicating these old keys. What metal would you recommend using?

Dan,
That looks like a steel key. You will probably have to go to a regular locksmith. It requires a special cutter probably not found at a big box store

I had a similar problem getting keys for my Craven Panniers, in the end had to order keys on the internet that were a different code and bigger, then get my local guy to recut to my pattern.
